Man Killed and Juvenile Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash near Crowley
CROWLEY, CO (June 23, 2018) – A man was killed late Saturday morning and a teenager was seriously injured after their vehicle rolled over. 22-year-old Jacob Bauer Jr of Crowley County was later identified as the fatality of this incident.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision took place at 11:23 AM. A 1986 Jeep Cherokee was heading northbound on Crowley County Road 15 when it lost control and spun going off the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled over twice and ejected Bauer and a 16-year-old Ordway boy before coming to a rest.
Bauer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while his juvenile passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital. The identity of the passenger was not immediately confirmed.
A GoFundMe page was created to assist Bauer’s family with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate and support the campaign.
The preliminary investigation suggested that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the deadly crash. Investigators are considering excessive speed as a possible cause in this incident. It was also noted that both Bauer and the juvenile were not secured in a seat belt at the time of the accident.
No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
