Homeless Man Killed in San Luis Obispo Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 and Prado Road

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (March 5, 2024) – Saturday, Jace Haro was involved in a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Prado Road.

The incident happened at about 11:46 p.m. when 21-year-old Haro of San Luis Obispo drove a Dodge Challenger, north on the highway, north of Prado Road.

Then, his car veered into the right shoulder of the road. Afterward, the vehicle crashed into a light pole before striking two people in a homeless encampment.

As a result, a 45-year-old man was declared dead at the scene after sustaining blunt-force trauma. Meanwhile, another 52-year-old man in the encampment complained of arm pain.

Moreover, officers suspect Haro of driving under the influence of alcohol. The officers took the driver into custody and booked him at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

Officers noted that the suspect reportedly sustained moderate injuries to his hand.

Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased victim.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
