J Arredondo and Others Injured in Highway 78 Fatal Crash [Glamis, CA]

Glamis, CA (August 01, 2021) – On July 30, 33-year-old Jeep female driver of the Jeep, J Arredondo of Blythe, and others, were injured in a fatal crash on Highway 78.

The fatal crash happened about 8:40 p.m. east of Whitlock Road.

A 52-year-old Las Vegas man in a 2006 Mercedes sedan was westbound on Highway 78 when he rear-ended an eastbound semi-truck trailer.

The man continued to drive west after striking the eastbound semi-truck, and went into the path of the eastbound Jeep.

Unfortunately, the Las Vegas succumb to crash injuries on the scene.

Reports said three airships flew out a occupants of a late-model Jeep to hospitals outside Imperial County. They were traveling when the Las Vegas man struck them.

Arredondo, along with an 11- and 7-year-old male juveniles, both from Blythe, were airlifted.

The juveniles were flown to Loma Linda Medical Center. The the 11-year-old suffered major injuries that included facial trauma and facial lacerations, while the 7-year-old with moderate injuries that included pain to his chest and abrasions to his face.

Meanwhile, Arredondo incurred major blunt-force trauma injuries. Rescuers airlifted Arredondo to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

Moreover, rescuers took the Jeep’s two juvenile passengers by ground ambulance to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley. The 15-year-old female incurred a major injury, listed as a broken wrist, while the 10-year-old female suffered moderate injuries complaining of pain to her abdomen.

The authorities said the accident took place about a quarter-mile to a half-mile east of Whitlock Road. A report also said that two of the Jeep’s occupants were pinned and had to be extricated.
