22-Year-Old Cathedral City Woman Fatally Injured in Tow Truck Collision near Gerald Ford Drive
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (September 16, 2018) – On Sunday evening, a woman was killed in a tow truck accident on Date Palm Drive. The deceased victim was later identified as 22-year-old Itzel Contereras Ontiveros of Cathedral City.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 7:00 PM at the intersection of Gerald Ford Drive. Authorities stated that a sedan was heading northbound toward the intersection when it rear-ended a tow truck.
Contereras Ontiveros sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. It is unclear whether she was a driver or passenger. Date Palm Drive was shut down between Gerald Ford Drive and Perez Road while authorities conducted their investigation. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
