Driver Dead and Two Passengers Injured after Vehicle Crashes into Pole near East Harlan Avenue
LATON, CA (October 20, 2018) – A man has died days after he was critically injured in a solo-car crash near East Harlan Avenue. The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Ismael Valdenegro, a resident of Laton.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 5:30 PM. A Ford F-150, driven by Valdenegro, was traveling on Cedar Street when it lost control and slammed into a power pole.
The impact ejected the driver and his two male passengers, causing moderate to major injuries. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and medical evaluation. Unfortunately, Valdenegro succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead four days after the incident. Updates on the survivors’ current medical conditions were not immediately available.
Authorities believe that Valdenegro and his passengers were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. It was also noted that the men were not secured in their seatbelts. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
