Injuries Reported in Atwater Hit-and-Run Multi-Vehicle Accident on Redwood Avenue and Third Street
ATWATER, CA (August 4, 2021) – Monday night, authorities arrested Isaiah Guzman following a DUI crash on Redwood Avenue.
The hit-and-run incident involving three vehicles happened at around 7:45 p.m. Moreover, it occurred at the intersection of Redwood Avenue and Third Street.
Atwater Police Chief Michael Salvador confirmed that 25-year-old Isaiah Guzman drove a white Buick Regal east on Redwood Avenue. Then, he didn’t stop at a posted stop sign. Afterward, the Buick crashed with the right side of a northbound white Chevrolet Silverado on Third Street.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to drove across the intersection. Then, it crashed with the front end of a white Honda Civic.
Isaiah Guzman escaped the crash scene. However, an officer stopped him in the area of Bellevue Road and Parade Street. The authorities determined that Guzman has a suspended license and showed signs of intoxication.
According to the police, an adult male Buick passenger and the adult female Chevrolet driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. Both of them didn’t require hospitalization.
Meanwhile, the authorities arrested and booked Guzman into Merced County Jail. He received charges on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in death or injury and DUI .08 alcohol causing bodily injury. He’s also charged with DUI alcohol/drugs causing bodily injury and misdemeanor driving with a suspended license for DUI.
The authorities continue to investigate the crash. Also, they urged anyone with information about the incident to call the Atwater Police Department at 209-357-6396.
