Isabel Fraire Killed, Holga Godinezxochitla and Two Others Sustained Injuries in Shandon Accident
SHANDON, CA (March 25, 2019) – Three people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead on Saturday, March 23.
The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. when a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan driven by Holga Godinezxochitla was trying to turn left out of the parking area at the Jack Ranch Cafe to head east on Highway 46, according to the CHP.
For unknown reasons, Godinezxochitla failed to give way to oncoming traffic. Then she pulled directly in front of a Toyota Sienna SUV that was carrying seven passengers. As a result, the front of the SUV broadsided the Mitsubishi, the CHP said.
The force of the collision caused a passenger in the Mitsubishi to be thrown off from the vehicle. The woman died at the scene, the CHP said.
Officials identified the deceased as 54-year-old Isabel Rodriguez Fraire, of Wasco. Rodriguez Fraire did not wear her seatbelt during the collision, official stated.
Three other passengers in the Mitsubishi suffered serious injuries. Paramedics brought them to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, according to the CHP.
None of the occupants in the SUV sustained injuries, the CHP said.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected as factors in the incident. CHP is still investigating the collision.
