Fatal Motorcycle Crash on 405 Freeway in Irvine
IRVINE, CA (May 1, 2019) – A woman riding a motorcycle on 405 Freeway was killed in crash Wednesday morning in Irvine.
The fatal crash took place at 6:13 p.m. in northbound lanes of 405 Freeway, just South of Highway 133.
California Highway Patrol logs showed the CHP was told by a witness that the rider lost control of her motorcycle and it veered into the center divider. No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the collision.
The 26-year-old woman died at the scene. Her identity was not immediately released pending next of kin notification.
The crash prompted a temporary SigAlert in the two left lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
