One Dead and Three Injured in Pedestrian Collision on Turtle Rock Driver, Kamal Attoh Arrested
IRVINE, CA (May 16, 2018) – On Wednesday night, a family of four on an evening walk when they were struck by a driver under the influence.
The accident took place near the intersection of Ridgeline Drive and Turtle Rock Drive, just before 8 PM. Personnel from the Irvine Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene to find a white BMW SUV and the injured family: a 49-year-old man, 45-year-old woman, 16-year-old boy, and 15-year-old girl critically injured.
The male victim was airlifted to the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, while the mother and two children were taken to the OC Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. Just after 9 PM, the unidentified woman was pronounced dead. All three other victims continue to be in critical condition, according to Orange County Authority Capt Tony Bommarito.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. He was identified as 37-year-old Kamal Attoh of Irvine. He was taken into custody and faces charges of driving under the influence.
Ridgeline was temporarily closed between Hillsborough and Turtle Rock Drive, while authorities investigated the fatal collision. No additional information is available at this time.
