22-Year-Old Dos Palos Woman Hospitalized after Run Over by Car at Nees Avenue
FIREBAUGH, CA (April 15, 2018) – A woman was run over by a car on Jerrold Avenue while lying in the road in Fresno County, early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 1:00 AM in front of a home where she was attending a party, in the area of Jerrold and Nees Avenues. Officer Shannon Stiers stated that 22-year-old Irene Land of Dos Palos was lying on the road, for unknown reasons, when a Hyundai Accent drove over her.
The Hyundai driver, 22-year-old Austin Gonzalez of Dos Palos was backing out of a gravel area when the accident happened. He was uninjured in the incident.
Land was taken to the Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto by friends, and was reported to have suffered broken ribs, a broken clavicle, multiple scratches, and bruises on her back. There is no update on her current condition at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident. It is unclear why Land was lying on the road at the time of the collision. There are currently no charges against Gonzalez.
