Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Three Vehicles on Highway 240
Kennewick, WA (July 07, 2021) – On Monday, an intoxicated pedestrian was injured in an accident on Highway 240.
The crash took place at about 10:56 p.m., wherein the victim was struck by three vehicles.
The pedestrian was standing on the highway’s on-ramp. At the same time, three vehicles were traveling westbound on Highway 240 from the Edison Street on-ramp.
Reports said the pedestrian was struck by the first vehicle which was a 2020 Toyota Camry driven by a 19-year-old Kennewick resident. The driver was not injured in the accident and will not face any charges.
Then, the pedestrian got up and began running back into the roadway. That is when the pedestrian was struck by two other vehicles: A 2001 Mercedez-Benz E Class sedan driven by a 32-year-old Kennewick man and a 2005 Chevy Malibu hatchback drive by a 34-year-old Richland woman.
The Richland woman reported the crash to 9-1-1. Neither of these individuals was injured from the incident.
Meanwhile, officers did not reveal any identifying information about the pedestrian. Officers said rescuers took the victim to Kadlec Regional Medical Center to be evaluated and treated for their injuries.
Charges are pending against the pedestrian and the cause is still under investigation.
