Injuries Reported in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5
Seattle, WA (September 13, 2022) On Saturday morning, a 4-car crash on Interstate 5 injured several people including a Bellingham couple.
Reports say that the multi-vehicle collision happened at around 8:36 a.m. near the Seattle Convention Center.
According to the Washington State Patrol the crash on I-5 involved 4 vehicles. All vehicles involved were southbound in the I-5 express lanes near the Pike Street exit.
A 33-year-old Bellingham man on a 2021 Jeep along with a 31-year-old Bellingham woman were stopped for traffic, along side a 2016 Honda Civic.
Officials say that a 1996 Nissan 200SX suddenly stopped for the traffic, however, a 19-year-old Shoreline man on 2018 Ram 1500 pickup was not able to sdtop in time. Consequently, the pickup struck the Nissan, the impact casued the Nissan to hit the Civic.
The crash caused the Civic to rotate, then struck the Jeep, while the pickup spun and hit the Civic. All vehicles involved ended up blocking the express lane.
Fortunately, all 8 people involved in the collision were buckled up. Authorities say that impairment was not a factor in the crash. However, the 19-year-old Shoreline driver was cited for following too closely.
Paramedics says that all parties involved except the Shoreline man suffered injuries. Meanwhile, medics transported 2 people to Harborview Medical Center.
Additionally, officials say that speeds was the cause of the crash.
