Injury Reported in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash near Geneva Avenue and Ocean Avenue
San Francisco, CA (January 7, 2023) On Friday morning, a deadly wrong-way, head-on hit-and-run collision on Interstate 280 injured a person and killed another.
CHP says that the fatal rollover crash happened at about 2 a.m. near the Geneva Avenue and Ocean Avenue exits.
Reports say that the collision involved a black Lexus SUV and a Honda Civic. Officials say that the SUV rolled over and blocked 2 left lanes of the NB I-280.
Meanwhile, the Honda was blocking 2 right lanes and was sent on the opposite side of the highway.
Consequently, the CHP closed all southbound lanes of I-280 as well as northbound lanes 1-3.
Authorities say that the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries, while a passenger in the Lexus suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported both patients to a hospital, where the passenger died.
Furthermore, the Honda driver fled the scene and is still active. Officials are searching for the suspect driver and vehicle.
