6 People Injured in Sonoma County Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 1

SONOMA COUNTY, CA (March 26, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, an injury crash on Highway 1 disrupted traffic in Sonoma County.

The crash involving two vehicles happened on Highway 1. After the incident, six people were sent to the hospital and the traffic in both directions was stopped for about two hours.

One vehicle had a family of five and the other was solely occupied by a driver, said Timber Cove Fire Chief Erich Lynn.

Moreover, the victims sustained minor to moderate injuries, he added.

Meanwhile, Lynn added that the incident happened between Timber Cove and The Sea Ranch a few hundred feet north of the Ocean Cove Bar and Grill.

The cars crashed head-on and “bounced” off each other.

Then, the car with the family occupants went over the side of the narrow highway. Then, they came to rest around 15 feet down the embankment.

The other car landed on its side and blocked the road.

“I’d say they were pretty lucky. It was a nasty crash,” Lynn added. “There were pieces of cars laying in the road and on the side of the road. It was a heavy impact.”

After extracting the victims for 90 minutes, responders sent them to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Also, they transported one in the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Henry 1 helicopter and the others in a combined three ambulances.

Due to the limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

California Highway Patrol and Sonoma County Regional Parks officers also came to the scene.

Why It Pays to Drive Safely on California Roads

Sharing the road is a shared responsibility. It is important to keep an eye out for those who are on the road with you.

In April 2021, the CHP issued 2,021 citations for those driving over 100 miles per hour. You may be following all the rules but other motorists don’t. Hence, seat belts should always be a priority since it reduces the risk of death by 45%, and decrease the risk of serious injury by 50%.

An accident-free life is never promised. Even so, having connections to legal experts can dictate the severity of the aftermath.
