1 Injured in Palm Desert Multi-Vehicle Crash on Monterey Avenue

 
PALM DESERT, CA (July 22, 2019) – A driver sustained major injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on Monterey Avenue on July 19.
 
The crash happened on Monterey Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive after 7:30 p.m. Deputy Robyn Flores of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said that the incident began as a hit-and-run when a vehicle struck a gate.
 
Deputies tried to stop this vehicle but the driver didn’t yield. The vehicle then collided into three other vehicles on Monterey Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive.
 
As a result, the hit-and-run driver sustained major injuries and went to the hospital. Another driver complained of pain but didn’t go to the hospital.
 
According to Flore, the incident is a DUI crash.
 
Flores added that Eastbound Gerald Ford and northbound Monterey will remain closed for the next hour.
