2 Injured in Sacramento Car Collision on Highway 99
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 16, 2019) – Two drivers sustained injuries in a collision on Highway 99 on August 15.
The collision between a big rig and SUV slowed the southbound traffic on Highway 99 near Elk Grove Boulevard. The incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m.
According to CHP, an 18-year-old woman driving south, north of Dillard Road, turned unsafely into another lane. She then struck the left side of a big rig.
The 54-year-old big rig driver then lost control and struck the guardrail on the freeway’s left side.
The crash shut down the southbound lanes of Highway 99 until about 5:15 a.m. to recover the big rig and because of a minor fuel leak.
Medical responders transported the two drivers to a nearby hospital.
All the closed lanes have since reopened and authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in the collision.
