High Speed Pursuit Ends in Fiery Crash near 5th Street
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 24, 2018) – Injuries were sustained Monday morning following a police chase crash on Interstate 80.
As per reports, the incident happened shortly before 9:00 AM. Officers were chasing an Oldsmobile that was traveling south at a high rate of speed near 5th Street. The vehicle then collided with several cars before bursting into flames.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and rendered aid to the injured victims. The exact number of patients and the extent of their injuries were not immediately known.
The unidentified driver of the Oldsmobile exited the vehicle before it became wholly consumed by flames. He dashed into a nearby Walmart, but it is unknown whether or not he was taken into custody. It is also unclear if there were any passengers in the car with the suspect.
