GAVIOTA, CA (May 6, 2019) – An unknown number of people sustained injuries in a fiery car accident on Highway 1 on May 4.
 
According to reports, the collision sent one vehicle off the road where it caught fire. The crash occurred near the southbound onramp to Highway 1 outside Gaviota.
 
The initial reports revealed that the crash involved an SUV and a car. The car went off the side of the road, caught a brush fire that spread quickly.
 
Meanwhile, the driver went out of the vehicle safely. However, authorities dispatched an ambulance at the scene.
 
Caltrans shut down one of the northbound lanes of Highway 1 before 7:00 a.m. to give way to the cleanup. By 7:45 a.m., tow trucks responded.
