Two Vehicles Involved in Collision near Sand Canyon Avenue
IRVINE, CA (March 15, 2019) – Multiple victims sustained injuries in a car crash on southbound 5 Freeway, Friday morning.
Officials say the collision took place on the highway around 5:40 a.m. Dispatchers then arrived just south of Sand Canyon Avenue shortly after.
Reports indicate that two unidentified vehicles were involved in the accident. However, details on the circumstances leading up to the collision are unclear.
Paramedics were quickly called to the scene, due to needed medical attention. The current condition of the injured victims has not been updated.
Furthermore, one car was found facing the wrong way upon medics arrival. Authorities aren’t sure yet if the accident was related to wrong-way driving.
The No. 1 and 2 lanes were both closed while cleaning operations were conducted. An investigation is ongoing to determine liability.
