580 Freeway Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Altamont Pass Results to Injuries
ALTAMONT PASS, CA (October 14, 2019) – A 580 Freeway multi-vehicle crash near the Altamont Pass resulted in injuries and closure of the westbound lane Friday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident happened near the West Grant Line Road off-ramp at around 7:40 a.m.
Initial reports indicated that a vehicle left the highway then went up a hill. The vehicle subsequently came through a field and crashed through a fence back onto the highway, hitting a big rig.
The CHP did not immediately provide the number of injured people and the extent of injuries. However, they said a dog also sustained injuries in the crash. Authorities called an ambulance to the scene.
All lanes of the freeway reopened shortly after 9:00 a.m.
