Injuries Reported in Alarming Wrong-Way Crash on S Santa Fe Avenue and N Rancho Santa Fe Road [San Marcos, CA]

Lanes Blocked in San Marcos Auto Accident on S Santa Fe Avenue and N Rancho Santa Fe Road

SAN MARCOS, CA (April 23, 2024) – Sunday night, an alarming wrong-way crash on S Santa Fe Avenue and N Rancho Santa Fe Road led to injuries.

Reports said that the incident happened at around 8:00 p.m. on S Santa Fe Avenue and N Rancho Santa Fe Road.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, an SUV that was traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with another SUV and a car.

Moreover, responders transported three occupants of the SUV, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and an infant, to a hospital for treatment. Then, paramedics transported the 29-year-old male wrong-way driver to a hospital with major injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed S. Santa Fe Avenue between N. Rancho Sante Fe Road and S. Las Flores Drive.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department continued to investigate the crash.
