Rescuers Respond to Multi-Vehicle Crash in Piru
Ventura County, CA (May 31, 2024) – Injuries have been reported following a big rig crash on Highway 126 Thursday morning.
It was about 8:20 a.m. when the multi-vehicle crash happened on Powell Road west of Piru.
According to the investigators, an eastbound big rig was hauling about 76,000 pounds of trash and recyclables when its driver drifted onto the right shoulder and struck a parked Moon Valley Nurseries truck.
The nursery truck was damaged and the big rig overcorrected causing the big rig to jackknife.
Two westbound vehicles were also involved. A westbound vehicle driver slowed to watch what was happening but was rear-ended by another westbound car.
Troopers said the collision resulted in minor injuries.
Fuel had leaked onto the roadway from the big rig, but the vehicle remained upright.
