Lanes Closed after San Jose Auto Accident on Interstate 880 and US Highway 101
SAN JOSE, CA (May 7, 2024) – Monday afternoon, a startling traffic crash on Interstate 880 and US Highway 101 led to injuries.
The incident happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Interstate 880 and US Highway 101.
Reports revealed that the crash initially blocked the left lanes of northbound and southbound I-880 at US-101 S in San Jose.
Then, CHP reported that all lanes were shut down in the southbound direction while the two left northbound lanes were still closed.
Around 2:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced that the center’s southbound lane had reopened. Approximately two and a half hours later, at around 5:15 p.m., all lanes were reopened in both directions.
However, motorists were cautioned to anticipate residual delays due to the earlier closure. Additionally, they were encouraged to consider using alternate routes to bypass the area and minimize traffic congestion.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
