Lanes Blocked in Phelps County Auto Accident on Interstate 44 near Mile Marker 174
PHELPS COUNTY, MO (September 25, 2024) – Sunday night, a disastrous vehicle crash on Interstate 44 near Mile Marker 174 led to injuries.
The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. on Interstate 44 near Mile Marker 174.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Ford Explorer merged into traffic and collided with a Dodge Caravan.
Moreover, responders transported three passengers of The Caravan who were minors, and a minor from the Explorer, to a hospital, all with moderate injuries. Also, authorities transported the driver of the Caravan to a hospital with minor injuries.
Furthermore, officers confirmed that a Jack Russell was also involved in a crash, jumped into Little Piney Creek below the interstate, and was later pronounced dead at a veterinary hospital in Rolla.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the MSHP continued to investigate the crash.
