Traffic Stalled after Lake County Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 20 near Cora Drive

LAKE COUNTY, CA (January 11, 2024) – Wednesday night, a crippling traffic crash on Highway 20 near Cora Drive led to injuries.

The incident happened just after 12:30 p.m. on Highway 20 near Cora Drive in Lucerne.

According to reports, an SUV crashed with a big rig towing a crane. Then, the reporting party revealed that they were hit from behind by a Chevy Suburban.

Meanwhile, a first responder at the scene said that the occupant of the vehicle was trapped and required extrication.

Also, the SUV sustained major front-end damage. Reports added that the big rig is “undrivable” and was now on the right-hand side of the road. Tow trucks were also requested to the scene.

Meanwhile, at about 1:45 p.m., a tow was requested for a red Jeep with major rear-end damage indicating a third vehicle was involved.

Furthermore, the incident led to a full closure of Highway 20 and a traffic backup west and east of the crash site.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
