Major Injuries Reported in Crippling Head-On Crash on Highway 101 and Salmon Creek [Miranda, CA]

Ambulance Responds to Miranda Auto Accident on Highway 101 and Salmon Creek

MIRANDA, CA (July 4, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a crippling head-on crash on Highway 101 and Salmon Creek led to major injuries.

The incident happened at about 1:45 p.m. on Highway 101 and Salmon Creek, north of Miranda.

Miranda Fire, Myers Flat Fire, Redway Fire, Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue, and City Ambulance were requested to the scene. Also, an air ambulance was ordered to be on standby.

According to scanner traffic, a head-on collision occurred in the northbound lane of Highway 101, just south of the Salmon Creek exit. 

Four individuals were reported injured between the two vehicles involved, a white sedan and a silver sedan. Emergency dispatch indicated that extrication was necessary for one or more occupants, and a nurse at the scene confirmed that all four involved parties required medical attention. The CHP log noted that at least one person suffered major injuries.

The first report of the collision came in at 1:38 p.m., and the white sedan was blocking the roadway. Both southbound and northbound #2 lanes of Highway 101 were closed due to the incident. Tow trucks were dispatched to clear the scene.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
