2 Cars Collide on 680 Freeway in Fremont
FREMONT, CA (July 31, 2019) – Injuries and damage were reported following a two-car crash Wednesday morning on southbound 680 Freeway in Fremont.
The crash took place at 11:28 a.m., just north of Auto Mall Parkway. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
Officials located a black Lincoln MKZ and a purple Honda Fit, both blocking the right shoulder.
Injuries were sustained as a result of the crash, but the severity and exact number of patients were not immediately known. Paramedics later took those who were injured to a hospital for proper treatment.
In addition, the crash also caused major rear-end damage on the Lincoln and major front-end damage on the Honda. Both cars were towed away from the scene, due to the extent of damage sustained.
An investigation is ongoing to determine who was at fault and to gather all the factors involved.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
