Imogene Haley and 1 Other Dead in Monrovia DUI Accident on 210 Freeway
MONROVIA, CA (June 24, 2021) – Wednesday, Imogene Lea Haley, 95, died in a crash on the 210 Freeway and West Huntington Drive in Monrovia.
The DUI accident involving at least four to six vehicles happened at around 3:00 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway at West Huntington Drive.
As a result of the chain-reaction crash, one person, Imogene Haley, of Temple City, died at the scene. Meanwhile, at least four others suffered injuries and required hospitalization.
Later reports claim another woman died from the Monrovia accident.
The deadly crash led to the closure of all the lanes of the eastbound 210 Freeway at West Huntington Drive.
Later reports reveal Humberto Gonzalez, 49, of Pacoima, triggered the crash when he rear-ended a 2008 Lexus ES 350 in his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
As a result, the Lexus slammed into a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck, that then pushed into a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe,
The chain-reaction crash ended with the Tahoe colliding with the 2017 Mazda 3 ahead of it.
While Ms. Haley, a passenger in the Lexus, died at the scene, paramedics took the driver to a hospital.
Even so, the Lexus driver later succumbed to her injuries. She has yet to be identified as of Monday, June 28.
Shortly after, Gonzalez was arrested for suspicion of DUI, his bail set at $100,000.
The suspect is set to be arraigned Monday, June 28 in a Pasadena courtroom.
His charges include a felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The authorities continue to investigate the fatal 210 Freeway crash.
