Ice Cream Truck Crashes into Police Station Gate near Imperial Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 25, 2019) – An ice cream truck hit a pedestrian on 25th Street near Imperial Avenue, Tuesday evening.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 6:30 PM. The ice cream truck driver allegedly cut through a gas station near the intersection when it hit the pedestrian. Then, the truck struck an electrical circuit box and crashed into a gate outside the San Diego Police Department’s Central Station.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of facial lacerations. Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He claimed that the pedestrian was a passenger who jumped out of the vehicle as it crashed.
An investigation is ongoing to verify the claims of the driver. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
