Motorcyclist Hunter Gibson Dies in DUI Crash on Sun Valley Parkway in Buckeye
Buckeye, AZ (March 8, 2022) – Friday night, 20-year-old Hunter Gibson died in a DUI rear-end crash on Sun Valley Parkway.
Subsequently, police arrested 46-year-old Robert Nelson, and is now faces one count of manslaughter.
The fatal two-vehicle crash in Buckeye happened at around 8 p.m. on March 4.
Police said Nelson was driving his Camaro approximately 100 mph when he rear-ended Gibson along Sun Valley Parkway, east of 211th Avenue.
Gibson was thrown from the motorcycle when he was hit and ended up about 365 feet away from his bike. He died at the crash scene.
Nelson admitted to drinking before driving his Camaro and reaching speeds up to 160 mph before the collision.
Moreover, a preliminary breath test showed Nelson with a BAC of .113. Blood draws analysis is still pending.
Further investigation is ongoing.
