Driver Arrested after DUI Crash on El Paisano Market in Tempe
Tempe, AZ (January 13, 2022) – Tuesday night, 19-year-old Hunter Boccaccio sustained injuries in a suspected DUI crash at El Paisano Market.
The crash in Tempe happened at around 11 p.m. on January 12, near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard.
Tempe Police said Boccaccio and another customer were standing in front of the El Paisano Market when an SUV driven by David Chidester drove towards the business where the two were standing.
Boccaccio then pushed the other customer out of the way at which point Chidester’s vehicle pinned him against a wall before colliding with the front of the store.
EMS took Boccaccio to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries to his lower extremities. The other customer sustained no injuries.
Subsequently, police arrested Chidester for DUI, aggravated assault, and endangerment.
