Late Evening Crash on 10 Freeway in Los Angeles Kills 1 and Badly Injures 2 Others
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 5, 2019) – A young man was killed following a traffic accident late Friday evening in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles.
The fatal crash happened around 11:25 p.m. at the intersection of 10 Freeway and 5 Freeway.
Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been the identified as Hugo Navarrete, 18, of Los Angeles.
Two other people were trapped from the wreckage with critical injuries and were freed by responding firefighters.
There were others who were hurt and treated at the scene, and declined hospital transport.
A SigAlert was issued for the westbound Santa Monica Freeway transition to the northbound Golden State Freeway and two of the three lanes of the transition road were closed, but one lane remained open. All lanes reopened about 2:25 a.m. Saturday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by police.
