55-Year-Old Cotttonwood Motorcyclist Hospitalized after Colliding with Van near Bowman Road
COTTONWOOD, CA (October 15, 2018) – A man was hospitalized Monday afternoon following a motorcycle crash near Bowman Road. The victim was later identified as 55-year-old Howard Wayne McFadyen, a resident of Cottonwood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 1:20 PM. A full-sized van, driven by 69-year-old Mary Lee Hannigan, was heading north on Main Street when she attempted to turn into the Chevron station.
There, she collided with a southbound 2007 Harley Davidson operated by the victim.
Due to the impact of the crash, McFadyen was ejected from his motorcycle and onto the road, causing major injuries. He was then transported to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding with complaints of pain in both of his legs and arms, as well as his chest. Updates on his current medical condition were not immediately available. Meanwhile, Hannigan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
