SACRAMENTO, CA (July 5, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a horrific two-vehicle crash on State Route 51 near Auburn Boulevard killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:00 a.m. on State Route 51 near Auburn Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound vehicle went off the east road edge of the freeway for still unknown reasons. Then, the vehicle went through a fence and collided with a southbound vehicle on Auburn Boulevard.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 37-year-old driver of the second vehicle, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the 53-year-old driver of the first vehicle to a hospital with major injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
