2 People Dead in Bakersfield Traffic Accident on Niles Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 14, 2024) – Sunday morning, a horrific two-vehicle crash on Niles Street killed two people.
The incident happened at around 5:40 a.m. on westbound Niles Street.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a northbound vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a westbound patrol car. Then, the force of the crash ejected the driver of the speeding vehicle into the roadway.
Moreover, responders pronounced the ejected driver, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported a 2-year-old child and the front seat passenger of the speeding vehicle to a hospital, both with life-threatening injuries. Also, authorities said that the front-seat passenger was later pronounced dead.
Furthermore, authorities transported an officer to a hospital with minor injuries.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
