1 Person Dead in Sacramento Traffic Accident on Interstate 5 near Hood Franklin Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (December 7, 2023) – Saturday night, a horrific two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Hood Franklin Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 9:20 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15, south of Hood Franklin Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2012 Infiniti that was traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a 2019 Ford. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Infinity to strike a center divider, ejecting the driver in the process.

Moreover, officers pronounced the driver of the Infinity, a 19-year-old man, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported a passenger of the Infinity, described as a Pittsburg man, to a hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries. Also, officers confirmed that the 21-year-old Elk Grove man who was driving the Ford sustained no injuries in the incident.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
