Horrific Traffic Crash on Wawawai Road Results in Serious Injury [Whitman County, WA]

Whitman County, WA (October 18, 2024) On Thursday morning, a person was hurt and transported to the hospital after a traffic crash on Wawawai Road.

According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), the 2-vehicle crash happened around 10 a.m. on Wawawai Road near milepost 11.

Reports say that a driver was airlifted to a hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision in Wawawai Canyon.

Authorities say that the accident happened when a northbound truck crossed the center line and collided with a southbound truck.

The driver of the southbound truck sustained severe injuries and was trapped in the vehicle before being rescued by emergency personnel. He was later flown to a hospital in Lewiston for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

The driver of the northbound truck, who was not injured, received a citation for negligent driving. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
