1 Person Dead in Livermore Auto Accident on Interstate 580 near Greenville Road

LIVERMORE, CA (August 3, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a horrific traffic crash on Interstate 580 near Greenville Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 6:45 a.m. on Interstate 580, east of Greenville Road.

According to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn, a gray Toyota Corolla drifted to the right for still unknown reasons and struck attenuator barrels on the right shoulder before coming to rest. Then, a 2012 Freightliner towing a box trailer struck the disabled Toyota which in turn struck the Toyota driver who was standing to the left rear of the disabled vehicle.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 51-year-old male driver of the Toyota, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the big rig driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
