According to the Rio Rancho Police Department (RRPD), the fatal incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection with Sheba Drive Northwest.

Reports say that the devastating crash near King Road and Sheba Drive Northwest claimed two lives and left several others critically injured on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Rio Rancho Dispatch Center detected a crash notification in Sandoval County. Rio Rancho Police Department officers and Rio Rancho Fire Rescue teams arrived to find two vehicles engulfed in flames.

Emergency responders worked quickly to assist the occupants of both vehicles.

Tragically, two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
