2 People Dead in New River Auto Accident on Interstate 17 and New River Road

NEW RIVER, AZ (February 22, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, a horrific rollover crash on Interstate 17 and New River Road killed two people.

The incident happened at around 3:00 p.m. on southbound Interstate 17 at New River Road.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a vehicle lost control struck a concrete traffic barrier, and rolled over. Then, the force of the crash ejected a passenger of the vehicle into the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the vehicle and the ejected passenger, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the crash closed southbound Interstate 17 but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Arizona Department of Public Safety continued to investigate the crash.
