4 People Dead in Wise County Auto Accident on Highway 287 near FM Road 1655

WISE COUNTY, TX (August 29, 2024) – Wednesday morning, a horrific rollover crash on Highway 287 near FM Road 1655 killed four people.

The incident happened at around 8:00 a.m. on Highway 287 near Farm to Market Road 1655.

According to the Texas DPS, a vehicle veered off the roadway for still unknown reasons. Then, the driver of the vehicle overcorrected, lost control, and rolled over multiple times.

Moreover, responders pronounced three people, including the driver of the vehicle, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted three people to a hospital with critical injuries, and eight people were transported via ground ambulance to a hospital with unknown injuries. Also, authorities confirmed that another patient died at the hospital.

Furthermore, authorities closed Highway 287 for several hours but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the DPS continued to investigate the crash.
