76-Year-Old Man Killed in Vallejo Auto Accident near Sonoma Boulevard and Carolina Street
VALLEJO, CA (October 19, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a horrific pursuit crash near Sonoma Boulevard and Carolina Street killed 1 person.
The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. near Sonoma Boulevard and Carolina Street. According to reports, an officer attempted to pull over a suspect’s car, a red Ford Fusion, for reckless driving.
As the officer activated emergency lights and siren, the Fusion fled the scene at a high rate of speed and went west on Carolina Street. Then, the suspect’s car failed to yield to two stop signs and crashed in the 300 block of Carolina Street.
Reports said that the Fusion crashed into several parked cars along the south curb. Meanwhile, the 76-year-old man was standing between two of them and was crushed.
Responders transported the man to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. However, his identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Fusion fled on foot, and police found a gun in the vehicle.
