IRVING, TX (October 1, 2023) – Saturday morning, a horrific pedestrian crash on State Highway 183 and Loop 12 killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 4:00 a.m. on State Highway 183, east of Loop 12.

According to reports, a man was trying to change the tire of his car in a lane of traffic when another vehicle struck him. As a result, the man succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the two passengers of the car were transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Irving Police confirmed that all eastbound traffic on SH 183 was forced to exit at Texas 482 Spur, also known as Storey Lane. The shutdown lasted for several hours and drivers were advised to find alternate routes.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
