HOUSTON, TX (December 2, 2023) – Late Friday night, a horrific pedestrian crash on North Shepherd Drive near 7th Street killed 1 person.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on North Shepherd Drive near 7th Street.

According to reports, a woman driving the wrong way struck a man. Afterward, responders took the woman to an area hospital for treatment.

Moreover, the man was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, HPD added that drivers likely would not have seen each other on the road until just before the crash.

“They met at the point where they would pretty much see each other at the last second,” a sergeant with the Houston Police Department revealed. “Right at the crest of the hill. One is going down one is going up. So, they hit head-on.”

After the incident, the authorities expect the woman to survive. Meanwhile, HPD added that there was no rain at the time of the crash. However, the roads were still wet.

Furthermore, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
