SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 19, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a horrific pedestrian crash on Interstate 10 and Liberty Road killed 1 person.

The crash occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Interstate 10, near the on-ramp of Liberty Road, east of San Antonio.

According to reports, a wrecker pulled over on the right shoulder to pick up a local.

Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man stood on the shoulder, helping to direct traffic.

However, a pickup truck driver failed to notice the man and struck him before veering into the wall.

After the crash, responders transported the man to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries. His identity remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene.

The authorities haven’t disclosed whether the driver was using his phone at the time of the crash. However, it seemed that the driver wasn’t paying attention.

“When you’re driving drive, stay off the phone, don’t text, don’t look at Facebook, don’t look at that stuff. I wish that these drivers would understand because this is what happens,” the authorities advised motorists.
