Horrific Pedestrian Crash on Fuqua Street Kills 2-Year-Old Child [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (December 13, 2024) On Thursday morning, a 2-year-old boy was killed while his grandmother suffered injuries after a frightening pedestrian crash on Fuqua Street.

According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), the fatal crash happened at about 10:35 a.m. on Fuqua Street.

Reports say that a pickup truck fatally struck a 2-year-old boy in a stroller and injured his grandmother Thursday morning in southwest Houston.

Authorities say that the incident occurred around 10:35 a.m. as the grandmother pushed the stroller through a crosswalk at Bathurst Drive and Fuqua Street.

A silver Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by a 25-year-old man, was turning left from a stop sign onto Fuqua Street when it collided with the stroller. The crash trapped the stroller under the truck.

Paramedics transported both the child and the grandmother to Memorial-Hermann Texas Medical Center. The boy, who suffered severe injuries, was later pronounced dead. The grandmother sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division conducted a preliminary investigation, which revealed that the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the pedestrians in the crosswalk. The driver, who showed no signs of intoxication, remained at the scene, cooperated with authorities, and was released after questioning. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
