1 Dead in National City Pedestrian Accident on East Plaza Boulevard and Interstate 805

NATIONAL CITY, CA (November 23, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, a horrific pedestrian crash on East Plaza Boulevard and Interstate 805 killed 1 person.

The incident happened just after 5:10 a.m. on East Plaza Boulevard just east of Interstate 805.

According to reports, a vehicle struck a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they performed first aid and CPR on the injured person until paramedics arrived.

Then, responders took the pedestrian to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery but did not survive, said National City police Sgt. Kenneth Springer.

Moreover, the vehicle driver remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the police. Also, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
