Juan Munoz Involved in Dallas Pedestrian Accident near Dallas Field Airport
DALLAS, TX (June 20, 2024) – Saturday midnight, a man died in a horrific pedestrian crash near Dallas Field Airport.
The incident occurred at about midnight near Dallas Love Field Airport.
The driver, Juan Munoz, informed police that a pedestrian jumped out from a bush and in front of his car. Police observed heavy front-end damage to the vehicle, a hole in the front passenger windshield, an entire arm in the passenger seat, and blood and “body matter” inside the car.
Munoz stated that after the crash, he drove directly to his workplace at a local body shop and called his boss and mother, both of whom advised him to contact the police. When questioned by witnesses at the body shop about his presence, Munoz reportedly told them “not to worry about it” and to “back off of the car,” as per the arrest warrant affidavit.
Upon arriving at the body shop, officers noticed that Munoz had glassy, watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol. Despite barely registering on the breathalyzer test due to insufficient breath, his blood alcohol content still measured .179, more than double the legal limit. Munoz admitted to having one shot of tequila in the afternoon and rated his intoxication level as a two or three out of ten, claiming he felt safe to drive. Later, while being booked at the Dallas County Jail, Munoz confessed to using cocaine.
Munoz has been charged with collision involving death and driving while intoxicated, marking his third DWI arrest. He is being held on a $135,000 bond.
