BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 6, 2023) – Sunday night, a horrific pedestrian crash on Union Avenue near Lakeview killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:06 p.m. in the 600 block of Union Avenue near the Lakeview neighborhood.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a northbound vehicle struck a male and a female pedestrian who walked into the roadway from the center median and outside a marked crosswalk.

Moreover, responders pronounced the female pedestrian dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the male pedestrian to a hospital with critical injuries.

Furthermore, the vehicle driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.
