1 Dead in Fullerton Motorcycle Accident on W Commonwealth Avenue and N Basque Avenue

FULLERTON, CA (August 29, 2024) – Wednesday, a horrific motorcycle crash on W Commonwealth Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened on W Commonwealth Avenue and N Basque Avenue.

Authorities have reported that a white SUV heading east on West Commonwealth Avenue attempted a U-turn at North Basque Avenue, prompting westbound traffic to come to a sudden halt, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

As the motorcycle, also traveling westbound on Commonwealth Avenue, tried to avoid the stopped vehicles, the rider was thrown from the bike and into the eastbound lanes. There, the rider was struck by a Toyota RAV4, which was traveling east on Commonwealth Avenue, according to the police.

Paramedics from the Fullerton Fire Department pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Orange County Coroner after notifying the next of kin.

The 47-year-old driver of the RAV4 stayed on-site during the investigation. Authorities have stated that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

Officers arrived at the scene around 3:11 p.m. and discovered the motorcyclist lying on the roadway, having suffered severe injuries. The motorcyclist’s black 2020 Harley Davidson was found lodged beneath the gray 2021 Toyota RAV4.
